Open Source Lecture Capture & Video Management for Education

The Opencast conference will be hosted at the University of Cologne.

The Opencast community is a collaboration of individuals, higher education institutions and organizations working together to develop, define and document best practices for management of audiovisual content in academia.

The community develops its own open source lecture capture and video management system, and shares experiences with existing technologies as well as identifying future approaches and requirements. The community seeks broad participation in this important and dynamic domain, to allow members to share expertise and experience and collaborate in related projects.

The conference will explore open source lecture capture and video management system, and shares experiences with existing technologies as well as identifying future approaches and requirements. The subjects of this years conference are:

  • Further development of Opencast as a software
  • Experience in using Opencast for lecture capture / video management
  • (Other) Technical solutions to support the use of educational media at your institution
  • Best practises for the use of educational media at your institution
  • Studies on the usage of educational media (teaching/learning, learning analytics etc.)
  • Strategies to optimize management support for services related to academic video

The international community seeks broad participation in this important and dynamic domain, to allow members to share expertise and experience and collaborate in related projects.  So if you are an Opencast user, developer, adaptor, considering or involved in the use of lecture capture this is a must attend event.
